Marjorie Carlson Davis was born in Ithaca, NY, and has lived in England, Washington, DC, and Greensboro, NC, but she’s spent most of her life in one or another of the Midwestern “I” states—Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa.
She received her MA in English from the University of Iowa. To support her writing habit, she has been a college composition instructor, a truck stop cashier/bookkeeper, a receptionist, and a bookseller. She is currently a writing consultant at the University of Iowa.
Her writing has appeared in a range of publications, including commercial magazines like the now defunct Sassy, Indianapolis Monthly, and The Writer; anthologies like Stories from Where We Live: The Great Lakes (Milkweed Press), Voices of Alzheimer’s, and the forthcoming, Rainmaker’s Prayers ; and literary magazines such as Many Mountains Moving, Potpourri, and Frontiers among others.
Recently, she won 2nd place in the 2007 Family Circle Fiction Contest.
Marjorie lives in Iowa City, IA, with her husband, two teenage sons, a sheltie and a bearded collie mix.
